Learn all about Edible Perennial Plants

Edible Perennial Plants

Course Cost: $40 per person, minimum of 2 students (or $80 for 1 student)

Course Duration: Approximately 2-hours.

In this course you will learn about 33 native perennial plants as well as a few non-native perennial plants. You will also learn the difference between annual, biannual, and perennial plants. You will receive details on the plants and will get to view many of these plants on a walking tour around our edible gardens and landscape. You will also get a brief overview on companion planting and an example .

You will receive a handout of the slides we are using. Each plant has it’s own slide and includes a picture of the plant, the common name, the botanical name, they type, fertility, average height, opinion on taste, its companion planting profile, and common edible and medicinal uses.

The tour will be quite different depending on time of year because some plants flower in early spring and others in mid-summer. Some plants fruit in late spring and others hold off until summer or fall. There is always something interesting to see on the farm. As of March 2025 we have 696 edible perennial plants and 75% of those are unique/different varieties.
