Learn some of the considerations you need to consider when designing your perennial landscape.

Course Cost: $40 per person, minimum of 2 students (or $80 for 1 student)
Course Duration: Approximately 2-hours.
Overview: Why use annuals that you have to plant every year? Why not design with plants that come back year after year? This is the topic of discussion in this course. First, we have to discuss Annual, Biannual, Perennial, and Mixed type plants and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Then we talk about the cost of plants and why you may want to propagate some of your own plants or seed to reduce the costs. From there we move on to design considerations. These include formal or informal, color, style and texture, size, focal points, and landscape fit. From there we move on to documentation. With over 690 plants planted at Great Escape Farms, documentation is vitally important. Lastly, we talk plant predators and move on to other factors you may not have thought about.
The above topics are done via PowerPoint presentation and you will walk away with a hard copy of this presentation. After all the seated talking, we will stretch our legs with a little stroll through some of the gardens and landscape here at Great Escape Farms. During this walk we will talk about and reinforce many of the topics we discussed during the presentation.
